Members of our ESD team recently attended the UNSW Industry Night for ESD students — a focused event that brought together future sustainability professionals and industry experts.
Held on campus and attended by around 80 students, the evening offered an opportunity for emerging ESD talent to learn more about their career paths after university and what it’s really like to work in the industry.
LCI hosted a dedicated table where students were invited to chat with our ESD engineers, learn about current projects and challenges, and hear how their studies apply in the real world. The team shared insights into our graduate and internship programs, the type of buildings we work on, and how our integrated ESD team contributes to smarter, more sustainable outcomes.
What Students Explored:
- How NABERS and Green Star ratings influence building performance
- The role of CFD in airflow and thermal comfort
- Strategies for decarbonisation in design
- Career pathways in ESD consulting
LCI’s graduate program provides a two-year pathway for hands-on experience, mentoring, and exposure to real-world ESD projects. Many of our past interns and graduates now lead sustainability outcomes for major clients across Australia and globally.
“I was encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and learn from the experience, which was key to building both my confidence and capability.”
– Jimmy, Graduate CFD Engineer
The response from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how valuable it was to connect directly with our team and gain a clearer view of what a career in sustainable design can look like. Events like this help bridge the gap between study and industry, giving students a practical context for their learning while helping us build stronger, values-aligned talent pipelines.
We were proud to be part of the evening and connect with the next wave of engineers shaping the built environment. These conversations are a reminder of the importance of sharing knowledge, listening to what future graduates care about, and showing how technical skills can create real-world impact.
