Barwon Women's & Children's (BWC)

The Barwon Women’s & Children’s (BWC) project will enable University Hospital Geelong to provide maternity and paediatric services to the greater G21 region. It aims to meet current demands, support modern models of care, and attract and retain high quality staff.

The project will deliver a range of new and expanded services across both new build and refurbished spaces, in multiple stages, including:

• Expanded operating theatre capacity including support spaces and expanded CSSD,
• Expanded maternity assessment and birthing suites,
• Expanded maternity inpatient accommodation,
• A new Neonatal and Parent Care unit,
• A new inpatient unit for children and adolescents, including short-stay admissions,
• A new hospital main entry and enhanced maternity entry,
• Expanded outpatient services,
• Miscellaneous decanting works, and
• The establishment of outdoor green spaces/terraces.

Once complete the BWC project will deliver numerous benefits, including improved patient and family experiences, better health outcomes, increased community confidence in local healthcare, and a stronger ability to sustain a thriving regional and rural health workforce.

We are providing the following services to VHBA: Mechanical, Electrical, Communications, Security, Fire Protection, Hydraulic, ICT, Audio Visual, Vertical Transport, and Structural Engineering.
