Chermside Philanthropic Project – Affordable Housing

The Chermside Philanthropic Project is an affordable housing development led by Brisbane Housing Company, focused on delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes designed to support long-term resident comfort and liveability. The project places a strong emphasis on sustainable outcomes, recognising the importance of reducing operational energy costs while improving thermal performance in Brisbane’s subtropical climate.

LCI Consultants provided pro bono sustainability services to support the project’s energy efficiency and comfort objectives. Our involvement included NatHERS advisory and certification services, supporting the project’s commitment to achieving a minimum 7-star energy efficiency outcome.

Early-stage sustainability advice focused on optimising key building elements, including building fabric, glazing, insulation and passive design strategies. This early input helped inform design decisions that improve thermal comfort and long-term performance while remaining mindful of cost and constructability considerations.
