Challenge: 

Deakin University required a redevelopment of the aging building they were currently in. LCI were required to come in design an infrastructure renewal, site infrastructure & interconnections, staging and phasing of this project.

Solution: 

The project included fit-out of existing building and shell space to new teaching and wet and dry research labs including flexible teaching spaces, offices, seminar rooms and laboratories.

The engineering component undertaken as various separate packages included electrical, mechanical, fire and hydraulic services.

The key issues included: building renewal & adaptive re-use, hazardous materials, infrastructure renewal, site infrastructure & interconnections, staging and phasing.

Outcome: 

Deakin University now have a stunning building that provides adequate space for teaching in 2 different kinds of laboratories, bigger seminar rooms for more students to fit in as well as better teaching space.
