The plans for the Epworth Hospital in Richmond were to provide for 430 new private rooms, a new emergency department, 39 operating theatres and 19 new beds in the new state-of-the-art intensive care and coronary care units involving a new building or major refurbishment of approximately 93,000 sqm.
LCI were able to provide plans for the redevelopment of the hospital that met all of their requirements and more.
The project included risk assessment, reliability assessment, additional transformers, fuel storage system expansion, UPS system upgrade, main switchboard replacement, substation augmentation, HV reticulation and utility feeder additions.
Environmental sustainability has been considered with respect to building orientation, façade treatment and building fabric. Fresh air systems, rainwater recycling and waste reduction have been planned wherever possible.
The Epworth Hospital in Richmond can now provide a world class hospital with a total of 777 beds with increases in emergency, surgical, intensive care, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, renal dialysis, rehabilitation and all support services.
