LCI Innovation Engineering Award

As part of our work on the Ballarat Health Services Redevelopment Project, LCI is committed to engaging with the broader Ballarat community.

On Friday, Yogesh (Yogi) Raju and Virginia Rea were honoured to represent LCI at the Federation University Engineering and Physical Science Programs Student Awards Presentation Ceremony.  Yogi presented the LCI (Lehr Consultants international (Aus) Pty Ltd) Innovation Engineering Award – Awarded to a final year Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Student who displays excellence and innovation in a project with a focus on Environmental Sustainability (Mount Helen Campus).

Congratulations Danyang Jin for being named the inaugural recipient!

Danyang submitted a thesis titled: “Discussion on introducing natural ventilation into underground ventilation system to achieve energy savings.”  The main objective of the research project was to determine whether natural ventilation systems can be used in underground space to save energy, particularly in parking lots. The work presented in this project featured calculations performed to estimate ventilation volume as well as the location and size of the ventilation shaft in natural ventilation. The results showed that the application of natural ventilation to underground parking lots was completely feasible, and it could save considerable operating costs each year.
