Bussing, Airline Lounge and Transit Expansion (BALTE)

The Melbourne Airport T2 Bussing, Airline Lounge and Transit Expansion (BALTE) project involved extending the existing multi-level domestic terminal within a fully operational environment. Constraints in operational hours, programme and high-level security created a host of added challenges that were negotiated successfully by the team.

LCI’s building services involvement with the project included fire safety engineering, expansion of the T2 satellite to include new bussing facilities at apron level, transit screening and office shell at arrivals level, new gate lounges at departures level and two new airline lounge shells overhanging on the top level (now occupied by Etihad and Emirates lounges).
