Monash Health, through the proposed A&E redevelopment project has further developed itself into world class facility with its A&E delivery systems that meets and exceeds 21st Century expectations.
The key drivers for remodelling the existing facility were: Models of care, demographics, patient types, patient needs, clinicians, and technology, equipment and patient care policies. The objectives of the project were to:

  • Enhance patient access to clinical services at Monash Medical Centre
  • Improve patient experience and quality of care
  • Improve clinical services capability to meet current and future demands
  • Implement contemporary models of care to improve throughput

The feasibility study was required for emergency department expansion, improvements to front entrance, traffic and access improvement, maternity upgrade.
Decanting and temporary accommodation of existing services were required to allow the refurbishment and expansion works. The construction delivery of the Emergency Department Expansion and Traffic Improvement project was delivered in a live situation via a multiple staging with engineering services allowing for supporting scope.
